Sewing Machine Induction & Grade

Today I have got my Industrial Sewing Machine Induction which I am very excited about as I think I will then feel I am one step closer to making garments.

I collected my grade for Creative Approaches to Fashion. My overall grade was 64%, i really wanted to beat my first grade which was 66% as I felt I put everything I could have into this but I think my illustrations let me down but I keep practicing on photo shop as I had never used that before and I just keep experiment with other mark making techniques to try create my own style.

I have nearly completed the task for the next module. I cant wait for this one... It seems very more constructive. Will just have to aim to beat 64% so I can just keep progressing however I feel I have learnt masses all ready!!

Final Garment...

Getting close to dealine now... I feel I have come leaps and bounds today! I thought of some ideas for my final design last night whilst in bed and jotted them down. This morning I then went on to drawing up my final designs and came up with one I loved!
I also had my tutorial with Ian to make sure Im on the right tracks but he never gives too much away haha! Then I came home to sew sew sew! I sewed my final design for 5 and a half hours nearly finishing the main body of the new manipulated garment.
Along the way I came across design faults which I managed to rectify quite easily, then also I had a few brainwaves along the way which have adapted my idea slightly. So I am really pleased with todays progress!!!

Manipulating Fabric Workshop!

Like the manipulating images workshop... I feel like I have learnt quite a lot again. The fabric manipulating workshop makes you come up with ideas you probably wouldn't even have thought of (well I definately wouldn't).
This almost gives you a head start as you create so many different shapes with the fabric on the mannequins with the artist and phrase in mind and see what inspires you. This then helps you with your design ideas as you have more to play around with.
I found many different ways of using the material which i am definately going to concider for my design sheets!!!

Manipulating Images Workshop!

I really enjoyed today's workshop about manipulating images into fashion illustrations and garments!

At first I was a bit undecided as to what images to do and which part of the images to do but eventually i got into it and created some good designs. I felt my time wasnt used as constructively as I would have liked. But I will sucessfuclly finish them off at home.

This workshop has helped me out a lot to think outside of the box and not use normal shapes to create illustrations but to use weird and wonderful images and it will help you think of a more creative idea!! The feed back I got from the other students was quite positive concidering my sheets were'nt finished and I will take all the points on board!

As I didn't know what to bring to this workshop I had to use images from the internet. I have left some designs for me to use pictures I have taken myself as I think they would be even better for my development so I am going to take a variety of pictures in Leeds City Centre tomorrow!!!
